12th Annual Valerie Gordon Human Rights Lecture

"Back in the Day" is Today: The Fight for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in the Deep South

Featuring Jaribu Hill

When and Where:
Thursday, March 31, 2005

5:30 pm, Room 97

Jaribu Hill is executive director and founder of the Mississippi Workers' Center for Human Rights. She is a human rights activist and attorney dedicated to providing education, advocacy and organizing support for low-wage workers and other victims of civil and human rights violations in the workplace. A former Skadden Fellow, Ms. Hill also served as a Soros Justice Fellow, working with Amnesty International in Oxford, Mississippi. She is also a singer and composer.

This lecture series is named in honor of Valerie Gordon '93, an activist for human rights internationally, domestically and locally. Valerie passed away shortly after graduation, and this event commemorates the remarkable contributions she made in her short life.

Reception to follow.
