Campaign Finance Reform:
A Civil Rights Issue?

When and Where:
Tuesday, July 20, 2004

2:00 p.m., Moot Courtroom

Featured Speaker:
John Bonifaz
General Counsel, National Voting Rights Institute

Nearly 90 percent of 2002 US campaign contributions came from non-Hispanic, white zip codes. Private funding of public elections denies communities of color and the non-wealthy meaningful participation and representation. Calling this the newest voting rights barrier, the National Voting Rights Institute links campaign finance reform to civil rights. Come hear how you can start working to defend the rights of all citizens, regardless of economic status, to participate in the electoral process! Co-sponsored by NURF, the Northeastern chapter of the National Lawyers Guild
