o Cooperative Legal Education

Northeastern's unique approach to training lawyers is known as cooperative legal education. Students complete a traditional first year of academic study; for the remaining two years, they alternate every three months between full-time jobs ("co-ops") in the legal workplace and attending classes. Through their co-op experiences, students acquire an array of legal skills, observe different approaches to the practice of law and determine for themselves which areas of the law most interest them.

    Number of participating employers: 800
    Number of states/countries/etc. represented: 40

o Computer Facilities

The law school is equiped with over 50 lab computers running WindowsXP. All of our computers are kept up to date by maintaining a three year replacement cycle. In fact, most of our computers were upgraded just last year. Our larger classrooms contain a teaching station with built in technology to aid in class presentations. Wireless Internet is available for laptop users and there are also network ports available for those who do not have a wireless card. All students receive a personal email account, as well as access to Lexis and Westlaw computer research.

o Career Opportunities

The School of Law's placement statistic is impressive: an average 96 percent of the last three classes obtained employment within six months of graduation. The Cooperative Legal Education Program signficantly contributes to this placement success. On average, 40 percent of Northeastern law students accept post-graduate employment offers with a former co-op employer.
