Phyllis Baumann teaches first year Property and, in the past, has taught in the areas of real estate, land use planning and women's rights. Following law school, she worked at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development where she focused on affordable housing and discrimination issues. She was also general counsel to the Massachusetts Office for Children. Prior to teaching at Northeastern University, she was in private practice in Boston, where her primary interests were affordable housing, zoning and construction law. She has published articles with other Northeastern faculty members in the areas of employment discrimination and feminist jurisprudence. She is an active participant in Cambridge land use issues, currently serving on a citizens' neighborhood study group.
