meet with Randi or
Valerie in the beginning of their second year of law school to discuss
their career goals and develop a job search plan. Randi specializes in
private sector careers and Valerie in public interest/public sector
careers. Both Randi and Valerie work with students interested in
post-graduate judicial clerkships. To

RECRUITMENT PROGRAMS AND JOB FAIRS
As
a NUSL student, you have access to many recruitment programs and job
fairs held throughout the year on-campus or at off-campus locations.
Detailed information about these programs can be found
in the Guide to
Participating in the Fall and Winter Recruitment Programs. The
Guide and other information regarding the recruitment program listed
below can be found on WeBoard under the Career Services Department Page.

each week. Our weekly newsletter contains the most current information
on additional programs on- and off-campus that you may be interested in!
FALL
& WINTER RECRUITMENT PROGRAMS:
NUSL
Recruitment Program
Northeastern's Recruitment Program includes employers that will be
interviewing on-campus this coming fall and also employers who will not
be interviewing but are interested in receiving resumes from NUSL
students.
National
Recruitment Program
This program is a Massachusetts Law School Consortium Program -
students from all of the Massachusetts ABA-accredited law schools can partipate. The participating employers include various
law firms and corporations from
around the country. Interviews for this program will take place at
Suffolk Law School, Harvard Law School and area hotels.
Yale
Law School
has compiled a list of private law firms
that have programs whereby students can spend part of the summer with
the firm and part of the summer with a public interest organization or
govrnment
agency.
Washington
D.C. Off-Campus Program
This program is a Northeast Law School Consortium Program - students
from New England ABA-accredited law schools can participate. The
majority of the participating employers are government & public
interest organizations. This
program will be held in Washington, D.C.
Students selected to interview will be expected to travel to
Washington, DC at their own expense.
New
Hampshire Legal Job Fair
This program is a coordinated by Franklin Pierce Law Center. Many law
schools from around the country are invited to
participate. Employers include mostly NH & ME Law Firms, also the
NH & ME Attorney Generals Offices and The NH Public Defenders
Office. This job fair is held in Manchester, NH in September.
Equal
Justice Works Career
Fair and Conference
Career Fair and
Conference is held in Washington, DC. Individuals interested
in public interest/private sector positions should plan to attend
this fair as it is the largest national public sector career fair.
Employer information and the Conference schedule will be available at
the Equal Justice Works website at www.equaljusticeworks.org in late August.. Students
apply directly to employers by the stated deadline and employers will
contact students directly to schedule interviews.
The Job Fair is held in October.<>
Fall
Government and Public Interest Program
This program is a Massachusetts Law School
Consortium Program -
students from all of the Massachusetts ABA-accredited law schools can partipate.<>
Interview are held at Boston College Law School.
Employers include Government & Public Interest employers from
around the country. All resumes are
pre-screened. Employer information is available in September. The
program is held in
October.
Spring
Government and Public Interest Program
This program is a Massachusetts Law School
Consortium Program -
students from all of the Massachusetts ABA-accredited law schools can partipate.
Interviews are held at Suffolk Law School. Employers include Government
& Public Interest employers from around the country. All
resumes are pre-screened.
Employer information is available in October. Program is held in
January.
Patent
Law Interview Program
1L, 2L and 3L students interested in Intellectual Property who have an
undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering or a technical science
are eligible to participate.
Program is held at Loyola University Chicago School of Law in Chicago,
IL during the Summer. This program gives students a chance to
interview with patent law
firms, as well as law firms, corporations and government agencies with
patent
law departments from across the country. Information and registration
on
this program is available in January. Contact your Career

The
Office of Career Services posts job notices as a service to students,
alumni,
and employers. The Office does not check, validate or guarantee the
accuracy
of the information presented, nor does it make any representations or
endorsements
about the background or reputation of the employers. Potential
applicants
are encouraged to perform their own investigation of the employers and
employment opportunities presented.
There
are two ways to access Northeastern's job listings:
1. Using our Symplicity Database
Beginning June 1, 2008, the Career Services Office will be using
Symplicity,
a web-based management system, to manage our job postings and will no
longer be
using Emplawyernet.
Instructions
for Students:
Log-in to Symplicity, https://law-neu-csm.symplicity.com,
using your MyNEU login & password. To
access job postings, select “jobs postings” on the bar across the top
of the
page. Individual job postings can be viewed by clicking on the “job
title” of
each job posted<>.
(Tip: While
navigating through Symplicity, use the “Back” buttons provided within
the
system, usually at the top of each page.
You cannot
use your browser’s back button to return to a previous page.)
2.
Viewing our Job Newsletter (a
monthly compilation of job listings received by
our office).
The
Resource Room has many job listing newsletters which list positions
for new graduates both locally and nationwide. For a list of
newsletters to which we subscribe and other resource materials, download our
Career Resource List. We also have part-time and volunteer
opportunities bulletin boards in the Resource Room. And, there are
literally hundreds of job-related internet sites which you can search
to find information on job opportunities.

INTERCOLLEGIATE JOB
BANK
If
you are seeking a position outside of Massachusetts, you may want to
look at job listings from the law schools in those areas. We are
part of the Intercollegiate Job Bank, which allows graduates to view
on-line job newsletters from law schools throughout the country. Please
contact the Office of Career Services for username and password.

RECIPROCITY
If you are seeking a position outside of the
Boston
area, our office can arrange for you to visit another law school's
career
services office in most areas of the country. Note that most law
schools
suspend reciprocity privileges during the fall recruitment season
(mid-August
through November or December). If you would like to utilize this
reciprocity
service, speak with Louise Ivens in our office, l.ivens@neu.edu.
