LIBRARY SERVICES FOR SCHOOL OF LAW GRADUATES

NUSL graduates are welcome to...

  • Use the collections of the Law Library and Snell Library
  • Borrow materials at all NU libraries
  • Use library computers to search NUCat, access the Internet and use research databases,
  • Connect to the NUWave wireless network in the Law Library and at Snell Library for Internet access and research,
  • Make full use of Snell Library's depository of United States Government publications,
  • Connect from off-campus to some of our online research databases. For a listing and instructions see below.
Steps to get a library card for borrowing and online research databases at both Law and Snell:
  1. Pick up your alumni membership card at the Husky Card office in 120 Hayden
  2. Bring the Husky Card to the library to be registered in our system, or call the Law Library circulation desk at 617-373-3332.
  3. If you are only interested in borrowing from the Law Library please come to the circulation desk and we will issue law school graduates a paper card with a bar code. Please note that this paper card will only allow you to have borrowing privileges at the Law Library not at Snell. If you would like both you must apply for a Husky Card and register the card at the Law Library or at Snell Library.

Reference

Reference librarians are glad to help graduates get started on their legal research. They are available to help you at the reference desk, via telephone at 617-373-3594 and via email at lawreference@neu.edu.

Circulation

We circulate materials to graduates for 28 days. There is one renewal allowed and fines are charged for overdue material. The overdue fine rate is $.25 per day with a maximum fine of $10.

Electronic Databases

These databases are available to you at your home or office. You must sign in using your username and your library ID. If you have not yet signed up for library services you should bring your Alumni Association Membership Card to Snell, the Law Library or AAI Library to register for library services.

NU graduates have off-campus access to selected library research services available from both the Law Library and from Snell Library. The Law Library's alphabetically arranged database list is at http://www.slaw.neu.edu/library/license.htm and Snell Library's electronic resources may be accessed at http://www.lib.neu.edu/online_research/

Please note that these databases may be used for research/academic use only, not for commercial purposes:

If you have questions please call the Law Library reference desk at 617-373-3594 or the Law Library circulation desk at 617-373-3332.
