NUSL ON- AND OFF- CAMPUS HOUSING INFORMATION

NUSL Lawn side As a service to prospective and current students, we are pleased to help you explore the housing options both on-campus and in the surrounding communities.

On-Campus
NUSL students have access to two on-campus dormitories. These graduate student-only dormitories, located at 331 and 335 Huntington Avenue, are conveniently located just two blocks away from the School of Law. Self-sufficient units include studios, doubles and triples. Interested students should contact Housing Services at (617) 373-2814 or housing@neu.edu for rates and additional information. First-year students sign a 9-month or 12-month contract; upper-level students sign quarterly contracts to allow them the flexibility to pursue co-ops outside of the metropolitan Boston area. Housing information is mailed to admitted students in mid to late April. Unfortunately, Northeastern does not have accommodations for married couples, those with spousal equivalents or dependent children.

Off-Campus
To help you with your off-campus housing search, the Northeastern University Off-Campus Student Services can be reached at (617) 373-2814. This office provides a list of apartments available and people looking for rooms/roomates and apartments to share. The list is updated every Monday and can be requested through their Web page: www.offcampus.neu.edu.  This service is available only to admitted and enrolled students.

Many students choose to live off campus in local neighborhoods such as the Fenway, Jamaica Plain, the South End or Back Bay. Other students live in nearby areas such as Allston, Arlington, Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Medford and Somerville. All of these communities are within 10 miles of campus and are accessible by public transportation.

Nonetheless, the housing market in Boston and its surrounding areas is rather tight, so we encourage you to start your housing search as early as you can. Ideally, you should look at least 4-6 weeks prior to your anticipated move-in date.

Like most major metropolitan cities, the Boston housing market is not cheap. One bedrooms can run from $750 - $1,400 per month. Two and three bedrooms are much more affordable, but the price can vary greatly. Be prepared to pay a security deposit and first and last month rents upfront. Please note if you use a realty agency, you may be charged up to one-month's rent for a commission.
