Wait List Process
|
|
The wait list process is an uncertain one and we do not know if we will
have the opportunity to pull students who remain active on the wait
list. We will carefully monitor the class from now until opening day,
and if we see the need to admit more applicants from the wait list, we
will be happy to do so. Many of you have asked if there is anything you
can do to improve your chances to be pulled from the wait list. As
always, any letters or e-mails indicating your continued interest in
NUSL are welcome. With respect to additional information, we ask that
you use your judgment in deciding if there is new information that
might help the committee.
Here are a few things to keep in mind regarding the
wait list process:
- We may not be able to pull students from the wait list this year. Although
we make every effort to admit students from the wait list, there are years when
this is not possible.
- The deposit deadline for our admitted students was May 1.
- If we can offer you admission, you will receive a call from an admission
staff member.
- Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer you institutional scholarship
grant money if you are admitted from the wait list. Typically, students
admitted from the wait list rely on loans.
- We do not allow applicants admitted from the wait list to defer entrance to
the law school.
- Only students on the "active" wait list will be considered if/when we
activate the wait list review process. In order to be on the "active" wait
list, you must complete and return the wait list reply
form as soon as possible.
- We do not rank our wait list. Should we activate the wait
list, our Admission Office will give your file every
consideration.
- We do not interview or meet with wait listed candidates.
- If we are unable to offer you admission in June, you will receive a letter
asking if you wish to remain on the wait list, since there is a possibility that
we will be able to admit some students during the summer.
- You may stay on the wait list up to the start of the New Student Orientation
at the end of August.
- We encourage you to make plans to attend another law school or make
alternate plans in the event that we do not activate our wait list.
